JCC: Game of Thrones (King's Landing And Winterfell)

For years the Seven Kingdoms have been plagued with rebellion and war. The never-ending quest for power has led many households to strike out, attempting to seize the throne for themselves. Westeros holds its breath as the Lannisters strive to consolidate power in the South, only to be met with resistance. To the North, the Starks try to rally their bannermen. Opportunities are rife for individuals to lash out on their own, taking advantage of the chaos for their own gain. Elsewhere, a vengeful Queen vows to seize what is rightfully hers. And, as always, winter is coming.

This joint crisis committee will pick up roughly where the events of season 6 left off, leaving delegates to contend with chaos. As the weekend progresses, delegates will be left trying to solidify power and leave a lasting impact on Westeros, whether on behalf of their House, their King or Queen, or themselves. Just remember, when you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.

*Please note that, although the team will try to make the committee as accessible as possible, familiarity with the Game of Thrones lore (primarily through the TV show) will certainly aid delegates in their personal crisis and front room strategies.*

The Tokugawa Restoration

"In a crushing defeat of the Imperial Court, the shogunate has retained control of Japan with the assistance of France. The control is uneasy, however, and the assistance that France provided in order to modernize the Japanese forces will bear great costs. Additionally, new treaties or declarations regarding the other western nations must be made. The people, while happy to see the strength of the shogunate against the western forces, are still wary of the influence the French bear. Lastly, the question of how to deal with the tozama daimyo who stood against the Tokugawa shogunate must be addressed."

The committee will be comprised of fudai daimyo, many of them roju likely, and the chair will fill the role of shogun. The crisis manager will maintain many of the events of the bakumatsu period, but with the shogunate government pursuing increased relations with France, modernizing their army more rapidly than historically, allowing them to beat back the imperial forces. The focus of the committee is on whether the shogunate can maintain control with their military victory, or whether the many outside pressures will force the nation down a similar path as the Meiji Restoration and westernize the nation.

Heeren XVII: The Dutch East Indies

A war is being waged on all fronts. The nascent Dutch Revolt has finally gained secure footing in its unrelenting war with the Spanish and the time is nigh for our ships and merchants to bring unheard of riches back to our shores. As the Heeren XVII, Board of Directors to the Dutch East India Company, you have been given an unlimited mandate to bring prosperity and prestige to the Dutch Republic. Be wary, though, as a beast is awaking in England and its East India Company while the old guard of Portugal and Spain jealously guard their prize possessions in the Far East. The time for decisive action is now as the fate of the new nation lies in the balance.
